Under the Mantle of Mary
A Parish Consecration to Mary through the Rosary and the Little Way
Under the Mantle of Mary is St. Thérèse of Carmel’s parish-wide Marian renewal initiative. Rooted in the Rosary, the maternal protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the spirituality of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, this program invites our entire parish community to entrust every dimension of parish life to Mary’s loving care.
At the heart of this initiative is a simple but powerful vision:
Each Mystery of the Rosary is dedicated to Mary under a distinct title, representing a core area of parish life.
In this way, the whole parish — our ministries, families, youth, worship, service, and leadership — is symbolically gathered beneath her mantle, united in prayer and mission.
St. Thérèse’s Little Way guides our posture: humility, confidence, and love in the small, everyday acts of faith that open our hearts to grace. As Mary sheltered the apostles at Pentecost, so she shelters us today, teaching us how to receive the Holy Spirit and follow Christ with simplicity and trust.
The Nine Marian Titles
Each title reflects a key aspect of parish life and corresponds to one set of Rosary Mysteries:
-
Mary, Mother of the Church – unity and parish leadership
-
Mary, Queen of Peace – families, community harmony, reconciliation
-
Mary, Seat of Wisdom – formation, teaching, OCIA, youth ministry
-
Mary, Mystical Rose – beauty, liturgy, and sacred music
-
Our Lady of Good Counsel – discernment, stewardship, spiritual direction
-
Our Mother of Perpetual Help – pastoral care, healing, and outreach
-
Mary, Star of Evangelization – evangelization and missionary discipleship
-
Mary, Mother of Mercy – confession, compassion, corporal and spiritual works
-
Mary, Refuge of Sinners – all who struggle, wander, or seek return to God
These titles become the spiritual “architecture” of the parish, reminding us that every aspect of our life is entrusted to Mary, who leads us unfailingly to her Son.
The Parish Novena of Consecration
This initiative culminates in a nine-day parish Novena, each day focusing on:
-
one Mystery of the Rosary
-
one Marian title
-
one area of parish life
-
one intention for renewal
The Novena concludes with a Parish Act of Consecration to Mary, entrusting our community to her protection and asking for the grace to live her virtues in the spirit of St. Thérèse’s Little Way.
A Parish United Under Mary’s Mantle
By praying together, reflecting together, and consecrating our parish under these nine titles, we grow as a family of faith marked by peace, simplicity, spiritual childhood, and missionary charity.
Mary leads us to Jesus.
St. Thérèse shows us how to follow Him with trust.
Under Mary’s mantle, our parish becomes a home where all can find refuge, grace, and the loving presence of God.
