Welcome to the Music Ministry page for St. Thérèse of Carmel. During this exceptional time of COVID-19, our music groups are not currently meeting or providing music for the weekend liturgies. When we have been given permission from the bishop, our groups will return to our Sunday liturgies. Until then, a cantor and accompanist will be at each weekend Mass.
The descriptions of our various music groups are listed here for when we do return.
St. Thérèse of Carmel Choir (STOC Choir)
The STOC choir, under the direction of Stephen Coggeshall and Zachary Simon, provides liturgical music for the Sunday 9:00 am Mass. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. All are welcome, no vocal audition is required. We also welcome string and brass instrumentalists to play at the Masses, an audition for instrumentalists with Steve or Zach is required. The group performs a Palm Sunday or Easter concert each spring.
The Contemporary Choir
Our Contemporary Choir is all about sharing uplifting spiritual music to our parish and we enjoy beautiful fellowship within our group. We perform every Sunday at the 11:00 am Mass, except when the Children’s Choir sings. Rehearsals are most Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the chapel.
Young Adult Choir
Our Young choir consists of high school-aged through young adult musicians and provides the music for our Sunday 5:30 pm Mass. Instrumentalists and singers of all levels are welcome; rehearsals are Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
Once a month our Men’s Ensemble provides liturgical accompaniment at the Saturday 5:30 pm Mass. Rehearsal is once before the scheduled date as well as at 4:15 pm before Mass. There are additional rehearsals prior to Holy Days, (Christmas and Easter). Our instrumental accompanists rehearse with the choir. New members for both the vocal ensemble and instruments are welcome!
