BAPTISM
The Sacrament of Baptism is a sacrament of Initiation, the first step for Catholics in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Baptism is the Church’s way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.
Baptism is a Community Celebration where we the faith community of St Therese welcome new members. Below is our schedule for “Community” baptisms for 2023. “Community” baptisms occur after the 11am mass (Approximately 12:15PM) and are limited to approximately six (6) families. However, if there is a special need, we can schedule a “Domestic Church” baptism (aka private baptism) in St Anne’s Chapel on the Saturday before the community baptisms at 10am, 11:30am or 1pm, or we can accommodate a different day that works for your family. The Chapel has Zoom capability so we can share the liturgy with family and friends (including godparents) who cannot attend in person.
Parents are required to register as parishioners and become active and participating members of our community at least three months before requesting baptism. If this is the first child, both parents are required to attend the Baptismal Class, as well as parents who have not attended a baptism class in the last two years. Below is our schedule for baptismal classes for 2023. The baptism classes are held via Zoom at 7:30pm. Click Here to reach out to Deacon John to register for the class. Godparents are strongly encouraged to attend a class either at St. Thèrése or at their own parish.
