Maintenance Supervisor
My name is Jose Sanchez. I am the Maintenance Supervisor at St. Therese of Carmel Parish.I work to ensure that the property and buildings here are kept in good shape.
I have known my wife, Yolanda, for 24 years. My oldest daughter, Jennifer (22) lives in Seattle. Our son, Christian (20), our daughter, Sulemita (13), and our youngest son, Junior (10) live in Tecate, Mexico with my wife. I return to Mexico every weekend to be with them. This is the happiest time of the week for me.
When I first emigrated to the US for a job, I worked in Los Angeles at a paint factory for 12 years. Then in Oklahoma for 3 years before coming to the San Diego area to work for Dan Giordano at Toyota in Lemon Grove. I worked there for 16 years before coming to St. Therese of Carmel Parish 8 years ago. In my position at STOC, I have enjoyed many projects such as building the special altar platform for Cardinal Mahoney of Los Angeles. It has since been used at the consecrations of Bishops Dolan, Bejarano, Pulido, and Pham here at St. Therese of Carmel. Some of my other projects included building the outdoor manger for Christmas and re-building the walls of the Youth Room to modernize it.
One of my most important accomplishments since coming to STOC is that I became an American citizen in December 2019. I am now working to bring my family to the US as residents. I am very happy to be working here at St. Therese of Carmel Parish because I have met so many wonderful people who have been so helpful to me and who I enjoy working with.
