SACRISTAN'S MINISTRY

Coordinator: Deacon John Fanelle

They are a small group of devoted parishioners responsible seven days a week for detailed attention to all the physical elements of liturgies, including weekday and weekend Masses, baptisms, funerals, weddings, holy hours, and other special liturgical events. Sacristans care for the sacred vessels, cloths, books, altar breads, wine, candles, incense, baptismal items, and furnishings. They ensure all the necessary items are available and in their proper place before and after each Mass and everything is clean and stored until the next time the items are needed.

ALTAR LINEN MINISTRY

Coordinator: Anne Magoffin

Ever wonder how the various fabric materials used during the Masses each week magically appear all clean and folded?

These behind-the-scenes ministers clean and press the altar linens and purificators used each week in our liturgies. The cloths used at the altar in the Eucharistic celebration are to be treated with the care and respect due to those items used in the preparation and celebration of the sacred mysteries. Accordingly, guidelines are provided for their cleaning.

We are in need of several people to join this important ministry and help with the washing and ironing of the linens for the Masses.

The only qualification you need is to show a desire to serve our Lord behind the scenes. It is a rewarding experience to realize quiet pride in observing our accomplishments at the Liturgy. Please consider this humble but very important ministry. To volunteer or for further information, please contact us.

“You know well enough that Our Lord does not look so much at the greatness of our actions, nor even at their difficulty, but at the love with which we do them.”
