What is Teen Korps?

 Teen Korps is a national youth volunteer service organization whose mission is to teach leadership for life through volunteerism. We are inviting all Teens of our Parish and school to join us in living out our faith more fully and actively by joining our Teen Korps chapter. With the national organization behind us, St. Therese/NDA chapter members will have the opportunity to participate in wide variety of service projects throughout San Diego as well as design our own service projects for our parish and school community.

 

What We Do

We begin each meeting with a focus/prayer session. This helps us to understand our purpose and to prepare our hearts for service to others.

We help St. Vincent de Paul and the San Diego Food Bank. These organizations work tirelessly to help those in need, especially those who are making an effort to better themselves and become more productive citizens.

We also focus on helping our own parish with any needs they might have throughout the year including:

  • Help the Parish Guild Hospitality Committee serve coffee and donuts
  • KoC Donut and Tootsie Roll Sales
  • St. Therese Annual Gala
  • Feed the homeless at St. Vincent de Paul
  • Help those in need of assistance through the San Diego Food Bank
  • Make blankets for “The Garden of Innocence“. Proceeds from the sales help to purchase wheelchairs for the needy. The blankets are used for burials of babies who have no families.
  • Help to feed those less fortunate through the "Souper Bowl of Caring" nationwide collection

How do I become a member?

To be a member of our Teen Korps you start by signing up on line through the Kids Korps Website www.kidskorps.org Once at the site, you should go to the tab that says “Volunteer” and from there you can find the “Join Kids Korps” link and sign on. Be sure to choose our chapter (St Therese/NDA) as your chapter affiliation. It is a pull down menu so be sure to select it. Membership is $28/year. Do not buy a Teen Korps t-shirt from the site as we are designing our own t-shirts that will be available for purchase in November. Once you are a member you have full access to any project available on the Kids Korps/Teen Korps Monthly calendar that fits your schedule. You can sign up online for these events directly on this site.

Additionally, we will have chapter sponsored events each month from BOTH the Teen Korps calendar and of our own design directly to serve our parish. Please check your calendar and email the dates you would like to attend to stthereseteenkorps@gmail.com. You will receive a confirmation email for your event. If you cannot make a service event that you have signed up for, please contact us at the above address to release your spot to another teen. Please don’t wait until the last minute…it is important that we fill all spots each date. :)

Parents: Due to liability issues, we are asking that you drive your teens to the service sites. Prompt drop-offs and pick-ups will be greatly appreciated.
