St. Therese of Carmel Music Ministry
Opportunities to Get Involved for 2011
Sacred Choral
St. Therese Choir
Singers, high school and older, who provide a foundation for community worship at the 9:00am Sunday morning liturgy. The St. Therese Choir also sings at parish-wide musical outreach events and leads worship at special liturgies throughout the year. All singers with an interest in sacred choral music and who can sing on pitch are invited to get involved. Sight reading skills are a plus but will be developed through participation. Open rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm in the church. For more information, contact our Music Coodinator.
Chinese Choir
The Chinese Choir sings at the 5:30pm Sunday evening Mass and for seasonal liturgies. Our repetoire ranges from Gregorian chant to traditional hymns to contemporary songs, in Mandarin Chinese and English (and sometimes Latin!). Members also participate in other SDCCC outreach and catechetical events. Open rehearsals are held in the church before Mass on Sunday afternoons 4:30pm - 5:20pm. We always welcome singers and instrumentalists. For more information, contact May Kuo.
Men’s Ensemble
A group of men who sing once a month at the 5:30pm Saturday evening liturgy.
Contemporary
St. Therese Worship Team
Musicians, high school and older, who provide a foundation for community worship at the 11:00am Sunday morning liturgy. The worship team also sings at parish-wide outreach events, high school retreats, faith formation meetings, and for Eucharistic Holy Hours. The worship team sings a blended repertoire with some emphasis on contemporary songs for worship. For more information, contact the Music Coordinator.
Technical
Sound and Recording Ministry
The sound ministry is responsible for providing sound support during weekend liturgies, at retreats, and for other musical events hosted by the parish. The sound & recording ministries are also involved with the creation of podcasts and other multimedia for youth ministry and evangelization. Responsible high school students and/or individuals with a desire and an aptitude or background in sound ministry who are interested in being “the ears” behind our communal worship experience, contact Recording Ministry. Training will be provided.
