Thanks for checking out Teens In Action for 2008-09! We are looking forward to serving others and showing compassion through our actions. With St. Therese as our guide, "You cannot do all the good the world needs, but the world needs all the good you can do."
Attention Teens in Action
All Teens, grades 7th -12th are invited to join now!
St. Therese of Carmel is now in its 5th year of Teen Service to our community. We are inviting all Teens of our Parish to join us in living out our faith more fully and actively.
Last year we successfully served the following events:
St. Vincent de Paul, San Diego Food Bank, Tootsie Roll Drive, Torrey Hills Day, “Souper Bowl” Sunday, Parish Picnic, and more!
Teens in Action enhances leadership skills through charitable activities
And community-based service Goals:

*Earn Service Hours for Community Service

What We Do
We are currently helping St. Vincent de Paul and the San Diego Food Bank. These organizations work tirelessly to help those in need, especially those who are making an effort to better themselves and become more productive citizens. We are also focusing on helping our own parish with any needs they might have throughout the year. The Knights of Columbus and the Parish Guild members give their time and talents to make a difference to others. Our Church continues to grow, and you will be able to help in many ways! We will keep you posted, so watch the bulletin!
We begin each meeting with a focus/prayer session. This helps us to understand our purpose and to prepare our hearts for service to others.
Parents: Due to liability issues, we are asking that you drive your teens to the service sites. Prompt drop-offs and pick-ups will be greatly appreciated.
What are some of our Events?
A sample of our service events includes:
--helping to feed the homeless at St. Vincent de Paul Village. We help prepare, serve and clean up meals. A food preparation/safety test will be taken, and a signed permission slip by a parent is necessary to participate. Please wear a white shirt (no tank tops) and jeans. DO NOT WEAR open-toed shoes. The address is:
--helping those in need of assistance through the San Diego Food Bank. We help fill boxes with food for families and the elderly. Please wear a white shirt, jeans and closed-toe shoes. This involves some lifting.
--helping the Knights of Columbus with doughnut sales after Masses and making blankets for “The Garden of Innocence“. Proceeds from the sales help to purchase wheelchairs for the needy. The blankets are used for burials of babies who have no families. Please wear slacks or skirts and a white shirt.
--helping the Parish Guild with the “Welcome” ministry at the 9:00 Mass and as needed with collections or Parish activities. Please wear slacks or skirts and a white shirt.
--helping to feed those less fortunate through the “Souper Bowl of Caring” nationwide collection. Please wear slacks or skirts and a white shirt.
How Do I Sign Up for Events?
Sign up for our service events by clicking on the "Event Sign Up" link above. We will reserve a spot for you, then send a confirmation to you a week in advance. If you cannot make a service event that you have signed up for, please contact us at the above address to release your spot to another teen. Please don’t wait until the last minute…it is important that we fill all spots each date.
