Transform the World in Christ
Street Retreat is the continuation of the program Disciples in Mission, a program that St. Thérèse of Carmel carried for over 7 years with great success.

A synopsis on what the originating program was:
What is Disciples in Mission?
The Paulist National Catholic Evangelization Association (PNCEA) has been developing Disciples in Mission since July 1993. It is not just a new program. Rather, Disciples in Mission builds on the good already happening in our parish. It works to insert a missionary consciousness into the liturgies, catechesis, and activities that are currently in place. It provides new ways to meet the needs that exist in our parish––and it offers new ideas for renewal as well. St. Williams of York is now entering its third year of Disciples in Mission with approximately 400 parishioners participating each year.
How Does It Work?
Disciples in Mission integrates prayer, the Sunday and daily liturgies, small faith-sharing groups, catechesis and pastoral planning into a coherent parish-wide experience of evangelization. It fosters spiritual renewal at the personal and community levels and places the missionary dimension of the Church at the heart of the community of faith––thus transforming it from within. This is the key to the Church’s ongoing revitalization.

Faith-Sharing Groups
One of the key elements of Disciples in Mission are the faith-sharing groups that meet weekly during Advent and Lent. Parishioners come together in small groups to study the Sunday Lectionary readings in light of the evangelizing mission of the Church. Members of the groups are asked to choose evangelizing activities to do over the coming week, either as individuals or as a group. Carrying out these actions helps to create an evangelizing parish because each parishioner is discovering more deeply his or her role in carrying out Christ’s Mission.
